Samuel Thomas Interview

Tell us a bit about your acting background? Where did it all begin?

ST: I’ve always wanted to act. I remember when I was a kid watching young Anakin in Star Wars, or Richie Rich and thinking that’s what I want to do. Acting and filmmaking have always been my passion.

Did you always want to be an actor/actress growing up?

ST: Yes. I’ve actively pursued this carrier since a young age.

What do you enjoy the most about acting?

ST: I love getting into the mind of a character and figuring out what makes them tick. What do they like/want and why do they want it? I love the intense electricity of being in character with another actor and for a moment we’re actually living in someone else’s shoes.

What is the most challenging thing about acting?

ST: Whenever you excel at something there’s going to be haters and people that try to pull you down. It’s really important for any type of performer to stay positive and not let anyone discourage you.

Can you tell us some of the highlights of your career to date?

ST: ‘Someone to Carry Me’ is my third lead feature film role. The seven years I’ve spent working on this film have been my most invested and adventurous.

How did you get your role in Someone to Carry Me? What process or steps did you have to go through?

ST: I slept with the executive producer 😉

Tell us a bit about your character in the film?

ST: Dan Webster struggles to gain his voice in a world where everything has been controlled for him and he’s never step out of his comfort zone. Pushed to the limit, he quickly has to discover his purpose and realizes the power his decisions have to effect others.

What are some of the current projects you are working on?

ST: I’m currently in pre-production for my next feature film. I can’t say much about it at the moment except that it’s going to be called ‘Irus’.

Do you have a dream role?

ST: I’d really like to play a super hero.

Who is your favourite actor and director?

ST: I’ve got multiple favourite actors/directors but at the moment I’d say favourite actor Jaoquin Phoenix and director Quentin Tarantino.
