Simon O’Connor’s Top Five Movies

Simon O’Connor, the National Party MP for Tamaki shares his five favourite  movies with Cinemaddicts.

Simon O Connor

The Shawshank Redemption – An all round great film.  Excellent plot, superb acting, melancholic yet a tinge of hope.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring – Love the books so loved seeing the pages come to life on the big screen and in New Zealand and that.

Monty Python’s and The Holy Grail – ‘What is the average air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?’  Enough said really.

Shadowlands – I have always enjoyed the writings of C. S. Lewis and this film bought to life a rather moving part of his life story.  Was also one of the first films I saw when I started working at the Rialto Cinemas in Newmarket.

The Great Escape – A classic of the ‘classic’ war movies.  One of those films which kept me interested from beginning to end, and which I can watch again and again.
